2026 Fiat 500e Specs, Features, Price – Although the 2026 Fiat 500e isn’t for everyone, the sleek and small Italian electric vehicle could be the ideal size and range for you.
Consider the new 2026 Fiat 500e if you’ve been searching for a reasonably priced electric vehicle with plenty of design and just enough range.
With its upgraded (but still city-friendly) size, a new dramatic flair, and what appears to be the ideal range for city driving, the little Italian successfully returns to America with its second generation of electric vehicles. It’s also the first electric car I’ve ever driven, and as it speeds away, passersby can hear its booming hymn. Cheeky.
Fiat would have you think that the 500e must first be a good car before it can be considered a fashion accessory or a transit solution. I drove the 500e through the congested, actual traffic of Miami’s Wynwood Art District to determine the latter. 2026 Fiat 500e Specs

Exterior & Interior
The hood’s cut line produces half-lidded eyes and a more relaxed, self-assured fascia, while the new design pays homage to the round headlights of the previous generations with a round daytime light signature. On closer inspection, I appreciate the small Italian flags on the front fenders, which were covered in translucent strakes, and the electronic door pulls, which Fiat says are more aerodynamic than mechanical handles.
There is more space in the back for luggage because the 500e still has front-wheel drive, but there isn’t any space for a frunk under the hood. The hatchback’s overall internal size is around 101 cubic feet, with a generous 7.51 cubic feet of baggage room behind the back seats.
Additionally, the sitting position of this generation is a little lower than that of the previous generation, which appears more natural, even if it is still a little high for a car this small. Along with better sight and a more grounded sensation, the new 500e also provides additional headroom (39.25 inches) for taller drivers.
The 500e goes above and above with its singing Acoustic Vehicle Alert System. Like other EVs, the 500e has a pedestrian warning sound, which is a low-speed tone that lets people know the otherwise silent EV is there. When the 500e achieves 20 mph for the first time while going, AVAS momentarily changes from a continuous tone to a public song called “The Sound of 500,” which announces the EV’s acceleration.
Even though the music only plays once every trip and is more subdued than it appears (you can’t really hear it inside the car with the windows open), it’s a clever aural Easter egg that adds a bit extra excitement to parking deck exits.
Stellantis’ Uconnect 5 infotainment suite, which features a 10.25-inch primary touchscreen display, serves as the foundation for Fiat’s interior technology. Actually, all you need for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is internet access. Wi-Fi, navigation, and an Amazon Alexa connection are included if you choose to use the onboard software. It’s a stable, well-organized, and rather user-friendly suite.
A 7-inch digital instrument cluster complements the main display and may bring media, navigation, driving, and assistance information closer to the driver’s field of vision. A typical wireless phone charger is located in a cubby on the dashboard.
Surprisingly for a car this small, the 500e boasts a rear camera in addition to other driver aid and assistance technology including parking distance sensors, traffic sign recognition, driver fatigue monitoring, and blind spot monitoring. The first 500e Inspi(Red) Edition that I had the opportunity to test drive lacked adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and automated emergency braking, despite the fact that these functions will soon be available on the 500e.

Engine & Performance
Through a single-speed reduction gearbox, the 500e’s single electric motor provides 162 pound-feet of torque, or 87 kilowatts, or around 117 horsepower, to the front wheels. Despite its lack of power, the 500e feels remarkably responsive both off the mark and at the moderate speeds that are common for city driving. The 500e is a simple, windy, and enjoyable urban runabout with an acceleration time of 3.1 seconds from 0 to 30 mph and a sprint time of 8.5 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. Its handling is also rather quick and lightweight.
The 500e’s 42 kW nickel manganese cobalt battery, which is situated right below the electric motor under the cabin floor, has around double the capacity of the previous model. The EPA’s mixed testing cycle indicates that the electric hatchback should have a range of around 149 miles between charges.
Although I would argue that the prospect of doing the Great American Road Trip in a car this small is a comparable deterrent for many drivers, that kind of range severely limits the 500e’s usefulness for long road excursions. Many drivers should have more than enough range to do errands and make their daily commute.
The 500e has three drive modes to assist drivers strike a balance between driving enjoyment and range. Normal just means normal. It stands for the fundamental functionality of the EV. When the accelerator is depressed, range mode engages the one-pedal driving mode for the best regenerative braking. Lastly, by restricting top speed to 50 mph, turning off temperature control, and lowering peak power to 57 kW (about 76 horsepower), the strangely titled Sherpa mode makes every kilowatt last.
The 500e seemed quick enough to maneuver in traffic because of its steady peak torque while in Sherpa mode. Even though Fiat predicts that Sherpa mode might extend the 500e’s range to about 162 miles of city driving, I don’t believe it’s worth it if you don’t have to deal with Miami’s heat without air conditioning. 2026 Fiat 500e Specs
2026 Fiat 500e Fuel Economy
The 500e can be charged from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes thanks to the Fiat’s 85 kW DC rapid charging capacity. Once more, this isn’t particularly fast, but it’s rather good for a low-cost EV with a little battery. These short-range EVs typically have a 50 kW maximum since larger batteries with more cells charge more quickly.
It will take around six hours for a 48-amp (11.5 kW) Level 2 home or public AC charger to completely charge, whereas it will take approximately 37 hours for a Level 1 charger. You may get away with simply plugging into a standard 120-volt wall socket overnight if you drove fewer than 40 miles each day.
The 500e comes with a Level 2 home EVSE that you will need to install yourself or a $600 public charging credit through Stellantis’ Free2Move charging network. The well-known CCS1/J1772 combination connector is used for DC and AC charging instead of Tesla’s plug because the 500e was produced prior to Stellantis announcing NACS acceptance in the US. 2026 Fiat 500e Specs
2026 Fiat 500e Release Date & Price
The 2026 Fiat 500e’s Inspi(Red) Edition, which starts at $34,095 (with a $1,595 delivery cost), promotes Product Red and raises money for HIV and AIDS research. The 500e Inspired by Music, which has a JBL premium audio system, and the 500e Inspired by Beauty, which will retail for $37,595 with enhanced driver aid technologies, will be added to the inventory shortly after introduction.
Fiat is planning a number of “drops” to keep the range interesting, such limited editions that highlight a new color, idea, feature, or mood. These will only be the start. Fiat asserts that in addition to a major brand relationship (think 500 by Gucci or 500 Collezione), each model year should have two or three drops.
Conclusion
A little automobile with a lot of style is the 500e. Although I had a great experience navigating through traffic in Miami, the little red EV would also be perfect for navigating through congested areas of Los Angeles or New York, or the tight, steep roads of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Despite its adorable appearance, the 500e is a vehicle that can satisfy the realistic daily requirements of most urban drivers. It would be a great first automobile for a child who doesn’t drive far from home.
For some people, the 2026 Fiat 500e might not be the ideal EV. I’d even venture to suggest that the majority of EV buyers are unable to pay the price Fiat is requesting. If this delightful little runabout were significantly less expensive than its competitors, it would be simpler to recommend it, but at $35K, the 149-mile range will deter many drivers from taking another look at this adorable little runabout.
That’s OK, though, because there are now many more reasonably priced EVs with more range, and there will be many more in the future.
