Two 500-kW electric motors with separate power units and special transaxle reduction gear sets have been mounted on the Air Sapphire’s back axle. The Air Dream and Grand Touring Performance models’ front wheels are powered by the same 670 horsepower single drive motor.
According to Lucid, the Sapphire will have more than 1,200 horsepower overall, which is sufficient to run a quarter-mile in less than nine seconds, reach 100 mph in less than four seconds, and sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds. Reports state that the top speed is greater over 200 mph. We anticipate learning more closer to the debut next year, although range estimates for the high-power variant have not yet been revised.

High-performance wheels with staggered sizes—20 inches up front and wider, 21s in back—allow you to see between the spokes of the stoppers. To maximize aerodynamic slipperiness on the road, Lucid will outfit the Air Sapphire with specially made carbon-fiber aero discs that can be attached to the wheels with a straightforward center locking nut.
The wheels are made to maximize brake cooling and have a little efficiency hit.
