It was irrelevant that the drive wasn’t exciting. My excitement has been building for quite some time; I couldn’t help but crack a smile throughout.
Thanks to the vehicle’s excellent visibility and its bright, airy interior, you’ll be the envy of the road as you cruise around. A large number of people congregate around this object. You can’t help but giggle along with them.
I don’t understand what it is about the Microbus that makes people feel good about themselves, despite its characteristic bread loaf shape. In the US, 2026 Volkswagen ID. Buzz may use some customer kindness because the Dieselgate scandal is still hurting the company’s image.
Based on my little driving experience, I think the I.D. Buzz is the bright spot that the company has been looking for. Observing their performance will be a very captivating experience.

The I.D. Buzz alone proves that this isn’t a random drawing. But because it’s electric and performance and range are the traditional metrics used to assess EVs, we’ll begin there. According to Volkswagen, the I.D. Buzz concept may reach a range of around 270 miles on the American EPA cycle, all because of its massive battery pack, which was revealed during the introduction.
Its all-wheel drive system will allow it to transfer an astounding 369 horsepower to the pavement as well. Do you think this is the original Microbus? It was 25 horsepower strong. My gosh, things have changed.
The I.D. Buzz can reach 60 mph in less than five seconds with that type of power, but I highly doubt that many would see it as a major obstacle. It is more important to focus on the intended autonomous parts. Pressing the large Volkswagen symbol on the steering wheel causes the entire vehicle to fold into the dashboard. When autonomous driving is engaged, the driver’s seat has the capability to rotate 360 degrees and glide over floor channels.
You may personalize every inch of the 2026 Volkswagen ID’s interior. Buzz’s futuristic vision of autonomous driving, a stylish spin on the “living room on wheels” idea that other businesses have been promoting as of late. I am entirely persuaded if this is the future of autonomous car design. I have never seen a car with an interior as roomy, bright, and welcoming as this one.
As a whole, Monterey Car Week is the most spectacular and opulent traffic jam you’ve ever seen if you’ve ever been fortunate enough to attend. Time flies by at a snail’s pace, and you’ll squander it sitting in traffic, smelling the exhaust of an old automobile that’s been sitting for too long.
So, going quickly on the twisty roads that head into the canyons or along the coast is typically not an option. My little experience with piloting the I.D. Buzz concept was painfully sluggish, and it wasn’t just because of traffic. Not only was the battery life becoming short, but a VW spokesman also told me to take it easy as the vehicle was still in its prototype phase and being constructed by hand.
The function it performs is commendable, though. The doors will open themselves if you only approach the car and run your fingers over a panel that is embedded in the inlaid beltline. Just like the Model X, they shut when you get in. Get moving by pressing the “D” button on the steering wheel and stepping on the brake pedal. After the gear indicator turns on, you’re good to go, but you won’t have much control over the bike so you’ll have to hold on tight to the oddly shaped yet comfortable steering wheel.
As an added bonus, the electronic boosting is set to maximum without driver input, and the steering is wonderfully light. The steering is so slow that turning it seems a little bit like driving a real bus. Acceleration is also rather slow, but it’s unclear if that’s due to the battery dying or the throttle map being purposefully loose to shield this brilliant yellow concept from foolish journalists. 2026 Volkswagen ID. Among the many breathtaking concept and production cars showcased at the North American International Auto Show this year, one notion truly stood out. Holy cow! Almost everyone who laid eyes on it wanted to steal it. This electric car, the I.D. Buzz, was a 2026 Volkswagen ID with the wistful name Buzz. With its futuristic design and autonomous capabilities, it appeared to be just another sneak peek at a Microbus revival that would thrill before disappearing.
Having said that, that is not true. Starting in 2026, Volkswagen will offer the ID. Buzz has kindly granted me permission to drive the concept car around the breathtaking California coast, and they have also confirmed that the I.D. Buzz will be on sale in 2026.
