Prior to being fastened into the electric racer prototype in Valencia, Spain’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo, I was informed that it did not have traction control. That data must be verified again. While shooting, I crossed to the front straight to get some distance from the camera car.
It was time to go, and I was a bit bewildered since the car wouldn’t move no matter how hard I pressed the accelerator. I didn’t immediately blame my spectacular four-wheel burnout. The vehicle quickly spews tire smoke in every direction.
The experience was enjoyable, the GT4 had excellent traction, and it made me grin. Power gone too far? Even in the most basic racing mode, the car has a noticeable bouncing sensation coming out of turns, but its throttle curve is very forgiving otherwise. I merely dug a little deeper as I approached one of the course’s several long, off-camber curves to compensate for my slowness.
Aside from being reasonably long-traveling, the brake pedal is also rather pleasant. Because it is brake-by-wire, the ride quality is unaffected when you transition from regenerative braking to regular brakes. In fact, it seems like it’s improving as the race progresses.

Its qualifying output was precisely 1,072 horsepower, or 800 kilowatts. Under relatively short periods of time. Clubsport and racing versions of the 718 Cayman GT4 have vastly differing horsepower outputs (425 vs. 600), while sharing a chassis.

Even though the automobile tried to pass me in just one lap, I managed to lock all four brakes into the first bend. Just pushing the left pedal and pressing on would have done it. How long did my initial turn take? Despite Porsche’s claims that the car is theoretically capable of reaching 300 kph (186 mph), the peak speed was a somewhat more modest 272 kph (169 mph). At that speed, the downforce seemed to be shoving the car into every crack and crevice of the road.
Until I selected the most powerful 1,072-horsepower qualifying option, I didn’t realize that Valencia’s front straight was so short. As I rev the engine to its maximum, the vehicle undergoes a remarkable transformation; it is exceedingly hostile when navigating turns, compelling me to make full use of all of the brake pedals. Despite a 30% boost in engine power, the vehicle’s tires and brakes remained same.
So it could relax in between laps at the track, I parked it next to a Level 3 charger. In most cases, I could go back after I had a drink and a moment to think.
