2027 Rivian R1T Specs, Review, Dimensions – The Rivian R1T truck even before I knew it had electric power. Riding this electric adventure vehicle is a great way to get out into nature and enjoy all the activities that come with it. For suburbanites looking for a zero-emissions vehicle with plenty of practical features, it’s on par with an SUV in terms of specifications. A significant change, however, has been implemented for the year 2027.
From the outside, everything seems identical; yet, under the hood, there are about 600 new components, a rethought electrical nervous system that eliminates more than a mile of wiring, and other enhancements to the electric powertrain that boost efficiency, performance, and range.
This electric vehicle is already exciting, but the new dashboard software adds even more fun with its cartoonish graphics and internet connectivity. To top it all off, both existing and new R1T owners may get this upgrade via the air. I had a chance to experience all that’s new with the Rivian R1T and R1S electric SUVs when I got the chance to test drive them. 2027 Rivian R1T Specs
2027 Rivian R1T Redesign and Update Plan
Exterior & Interior
R1T upper-level trim levels include new color choices and enhanced interior materials. Likewise, the dashboard is designed with an asymmetrical dual-screen layout.
Front and center is a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen with the Rivian infotainment and navigation system, while a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster faces the driver. The intuitive interface of the Rivian R1T electric vehicle has been enhanced with the addition of vibrant, cartoonish visuals and animations in this year’s software update, which is available to all versions of the vehicle.
These animations show the R1T in several settings that match the car’s color, trim level, and wheel-tire combination, depending on the mode of operation. Alright then.
Because the automaker decided to change the font to make the menus and visual displays easier to grasp at a glance, my inner graphic designer is going into overdrive. The improved R1Ts’ more capable Nvidia graphics will enable future infotainment functionality and graphical advancements, according to the maker.
when the latest R1 models do support Google Cast for in-car media streaming when parked, the manufacturer has no plans to make its vehicles compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto anytime soon. While the R1T was parked, I could watch Disney Plus or Netflix on Disney+ thanks to this capability. Similar to how Chromecast works with your living room TV, the dashboard can “cast” streams from nearly any video or media app.
Apple Music, YouTube (even while parked), Audible, and a slew of other native dashboard media streaming apps use Rivian’s 5G internet connection. Similarly, in 2027, using an app that supports Dolby Atmos will be completely optional.
The R1T gen 2’s ability to adapt to new technologies is the thing that has impressed Rivian the most. Along with eleven high-resolution cameras and five radar sensors, the enhanced driver assistance system makes use of two Nvidia Orin processors, which can manage 250 trillion operations per second.
While the manufacturer acknowledges that hands-free highway driving will not be viable at launch, they do state that there will be circumstances in which it will be possible.
While on the road, I had the opportunity to try out the most recent iteration of the manufacturer’s highway assistance system, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist and lane change assist. Despite several advancements in technology since my initial drive in 2021, I continued to believe it lagged behind similarly equipped devices from other manufacturers.
The adaptive cruise control system performed an excellent job of keeping the optimal following distance. Even while it was dry, the lane-keeping device clicked more often than I would have like between the markers; nonetheless, it kept working well even after a heavy rain flooded most of my route.
Even though it was easy to operate, the lane change assist would turn off the moment I put any pressure on the wheel. So that I could take use of the hands-on driver aid system, I needed the ability to change lanes without help.
It does take some time to get comfortable with it, but the learning curve is acceptable. Before you hit the road, you may adjust the mirror and wheel settings and activate the driver assistance systems using the buttons on the stalk and wheel.
Two or three pieces of carry-on luggage may fit in the R1T’s spacious storage compartment, which is hidden by the power-lift hood. To get them over the grille, you’ll need to lift something very tall due to the Rivian’s tub-shaped frunk. While loading and maintenance are made easier by the F-150 Lightning’s U-shaped trunk, which raises the entire grille and hood, there are other models to consider.
I haven’t seen anything in this class that compares to the R1T’s unique Gear Tunnel. There is a hidden hatch on either side of the truck’s rear doors and in front of the bed. Folding these doors down creates a full-width storage compartment, perfect for stowing away items like a tent, fishing gear, tools, and bags—something that most vehicles lack in a secure trunk.
Sturdy enough for an adult to use either way, the doors may be used as a seat or as a step to access the front of the R1T’s 54-inch bed. I wouldn’t recommend putting a human inside, even though it’s theoretically feasible.
A slew of unique add-ons have been developed by the maker using the Gear Tunnel. My favorite part of camp is the cooking. On rails, it glides into and out of the tunnel, carrying a two-burner electric stove and sink that can run only on the battery of the electric vehicle. As far as the manufacturer and other interested parties are concerned, the R1T’s Gear Tunnel is being worked on for a number of fascinating purposes.
The R1T underwent extensive revisions by its designers, who focused mostly on the lighting system, updating its look without straying too far from the EV’s signature style.
The electric vehicle’s signature front and rear light bars now provide a softer, more homogeneous light. When you plug in the front bar, you may use the variations in RGB color to indicate dynamic charging. You may now utilize the directional warning light feature and other new rear bar animations to indicate to oncoming automobiles to the left or right when you’re stopped on the side of the road.
I still wouldn’t advise staring directly at the illuminated pill-shaped LED headlights, even when matrix lighting technology is used. By utilizing this function, the electric pickup can avoid blinding oncoming or leading traffic by partially lowering its high-beam throw rather than just turning it off.
Even though this technology has been “coming soon” from Audi automobiles for what feels like years, it is now illegal to have it on American roads. This is why, unless the rules are changed, the software on current R1T and R1S vehicles cannot be used. 2027 Rivian R1T Specs

Engine & Performance
The R1 platform now supports electric configurations with dual, tri, or even four motors, and improved electric motors may be utilized in Gen 2 R1T versions. Additionally, battery packs can be used with these configurations.
The dual motor option is my go-to for most drivers, thanks to its 533 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque. Its 4.5-second dash to 60 mph proves it has more than enough juice for your average run to Costco or Home Depot.
Typical battery parameters indicate a range of around 258 miles. (These brand new 22-inch Aero wheels come with Eco tires that can run up to 270 miles, instead of the regular all-terrain tires.)
Maximize your range by 420 miles with the Max pack or 330 miles with the Large battery. You can get the $5,000 Performance upgrade if you choose one of these bigger batteries. Your acceleration from 0 to 60 mph will be increased to 3.4 seconds and your power to 665 horsepower and 829 pound-feet.
Furthermore, compared to the lower batteries, the Max pack’s haul capability of 11,000 pounds is significantly larger. As is the case with all electric vehicles, towing will decrease your range.
At the moment, the most cutting-edge model is the R1T Tri Max configuration, which has three electric motors. With 850 hp, 1,103 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds, the R1T is an extraordinarily powerful vehicle. With Rivian’s Conserve environmental driving mode, you can supposedly extend the range to 405 miles, but the anticipated 380 miles per charge is still rather acceptable considering the performance.
In the latter half of this year, the lineup will expand to include a brand new Quad Max configuration with an astounding 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft in torque. Rivian claims that it takes less than 2.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. I was able to get close to, but not quite equal, that claim during testing on a manufactured drag strip; so, we will refrain from arguing about it. Time is of the essence with this electric pickup.
2027 Rivian R1T Fuel Economy
Hidden beneath a motorized door in the front corner of the R1T is a J1772/CCS charging connector. Charge time for the Standard, Large, and Max packs is 30 minutes, 36 minutes, and 41 minutes, respectively. An electric vehicle can only receive 220 kilowatts of electricity from a DC fast charger. The highest amount of power needed for household level 2 charging is 11.5 kW.
When you own a Rivian, you may use any DC fast charging station that provides CCS, including those from Electrify America, EVgo, and others. The manufacturer also has its own network of stations dubbed the Rivian Adventure Network. Recent estimates indicate that RAN intends to deploy more than 400 DC fast charging stations distributed over 70 locations around the US, mostly in green spaces, trails, and parks.
The automaker joined Tesla’s North American Charging Standard and other electric vehicle makers last year. Their partnership with Tesla’s Supercharger network made them the second third-party brand to offer connection this year, following Ford.
Now that drivers have the free NACS adapter, they can track down one of the 15,000 compatible Superchargers nationwide and take advantage of plug-and-charge automatic invoicing using the Rivian app or dashboard interface. Electric cars benefit greatly from a widespread network of charging stations. 2027 Rivian R1T Specs
2027 Rivian R1T Release Date & Price
The 2027 Rivian R1T dual-motor model is, in my opinion, the best option for electric vehicle explorers because of its high level of standard equipment, great performance, and fantastic range. Prices have jumped significantly from last year, starting at $69,900 with the 258-mile specification specification. Upgrades to the 330-mile Large battery ($76,900) or the 420-mile Max battery ($83,900) are available for clients who want increased range.
Would it be prudent to invest $5,000 in order to boost efficiency? While it may seem implausible considering the R1T’s focus on pleasure, no one would criticize you if you chose to upgrade to the $99,900 R1T Ascend Tri Max configuration or clicked that box.
The new and luxurious Ascend interior, which includes upgraded materials, a motorized tonneau cover, an electronic roof that dims the glass, and increased cargo security, is also featured in this top-tier model, according to the “Ascend” classification.
The assertion that the brake calipers and emblems of three-motor R1Ts also include yellow accents is unfounded. We won’t know the quad-motor configuration’s price until its debut the following year.
