New 2026 Mini Cooper SE Redesign, Specs, Features – The new Cooper E and SE appear to be better suited for city people than road warriors because of their small size, limited range, and poor charging pace. With the introduction of the brand-new, all-electric fifth-generation Mini Cooper hatchback today, the well-known British carmaker and BMW subsidiary Mini made yet another significant step forward into the electrified age.
The recently updated battery-electric Cooper will be available for purchase soon. It has a cutting-edge cockpit, electric range and performance optimized for city driving, and a contemporary spin on the iconic Mini design.
We’ve seen other electric Minis before. With the Countryman PHEV, the manufacturer began experimenting with plug-in hybridization in 2018. In 2020, the 114-mile New 2026 Mini Cooper SE made its debut. But it’s clear where the firm wants to go because it decided to develop the new Cooper entirely as an electric vehicle rather than adapting a combustion vehicle. New 2026 Mini Cooper SE Redesign

Exterior & Interior
The new Mini Cooper is a tiny hatchback, just like the four models that came before it. Even though the exact dimensions weren’t disclosed at launch, the new Cooper doesn’t seem to have much more height or length. However, it has a larger wheelbase and is significantly broader. Mini’s engineers were able to better incorporate the battery and e-motors into the car’s architecture by designing this new generation as an electric vehicle from the ground up. This, in my opinion, helped to reduce the overall size of the vehicle.
Mini’s designers simplify and eliminate details in an effort to highlight the overarching themes of the brand’s more than 60-year history. The Cooper’s headlights and grille have been reduced to geometric designs, and the car’s bodywork is no longer chrome. Even with a little scale increase, the bigger wheels aid in communicating the diminutive vehicle dimensions. Additionally, the Cooper’s rear LED matrix tail lights may now be customized, albeit they may still be set up with a Union Jack design.
Earlier this year, at an exclusive BMW preview event in Munich, I spent a lot of time inspecting the new Cooper’s sheet metal, exterior, and interior. I enjoy the Mini’s relatively small size and proportions, even if I’m not sure I like how plain it looks. Above all, it’s obviously and undeniably a Mini.
The Cooper’s redesigned interior, which includes a high-tech version of the big, round center speedometer and the same straightforward dashboard design as the original Mini from the 1960s—complete with hardware switches and toggles underneath—is what excites me the most. (In 2023, physical switches! How cute! The Mini Cooper’s interior and the new Mini Operating System 9 that runs on its dashboard have already been shown to us. The latest Mini navigation software, a comical animated digital assistant, and 5G internet-connected services power the infotainment suite’s first-of-its-kind circular OLED screen.

Engine & Performance
Cooper E and Cooper SE are the two engine options available at launch for the electrified hatchback. A 40.7-kilowatt-hour high-voltage battery and a single 135-kilowatt (184 horsepower) electric motor will power the Mini Cooper E. According to reports, the Cooper E can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 7.3 seconds because to its 214 pound-feet of torque. Mini anticipates that this car will cruise for about 190 kilometers between charges on the more forgiving worldwide WLTP test cycle.
An electric motor with a maximum output of 160–kW (218 horsepower) and 243 lb-ft of torque has been upgraded for the sportier Cooper SE. The 0-62 mph hustle only takes 6.7 seconds with the additional power. The range is increased to WLTP-estimated 250 miles between charges with a bigger 54.2-kWh battery. That’s a big gain over the current Cooper SE’s 114 miles, even with the reduction in our more stringent EPA test cycle here in the United States.
By emphasizing the low center of gravity produced by its underfloor battery pack with firm stabilizer bars and larger, wider wheels and tires, the Cooper, built on a wider track and with a somewhat longer wheelbase, offers grounded handling. Even if Mini’s engineers think the hatch is still a hot one and would provide the “go-kart feeling” that drivers have been accustomed to, this new Cooper is unquestionably heavier than the previous four generations.
The Cooper EV’s 11-kW onboard charger allows for overnight recharge. The Cooper E can only handle up to 75 kW of DC electricity at a fast charging station, but the SE can handle up to 95 kW. In any case, charging from 10% to 80% using a DCFC station should take less than 30 minutes.
The Mini Cooper EV’s narrow range and sluggish charging speed make it unsuitable for cross-country rallies; at most, you could go 175 miles between 30-minute charges, which would make for extremely taxing road journeys. Commuters or city residents who desire a range that allows them to move around town and maybe charge once or twice a week seem to be better suited for the Mini.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the more powerful, longer-range SE is the only engine that crosses the Atlantic to reach US cities since the E could be too small to be competitive or economical, but that’s still up in the air. New 2026 Mini Cooper SE Redesign
New 2026 Mini Cooper SE Release Date & Price
The third-generation Mini Countryman, which was also supposed to be an electric car, and the fifth-generation Mini Cooper were both presented on Friday. When a production-ready Mini Aceman concept joins the EV pair during an event in April 2024, they will make a three. These are the latest significant advancements in Mini’s plan to manufacture solely electric vehicles by 2030.
After production begins, we anticipate learning more about the all-new 2026 Mini Cooper E and SE’s US pricing, availability, regional specifications, and range. New 2026 Mini Cooper SE Redesign
