2026 Buick Regal GS Changes, Review, Engine – A departure from the brand’s previous offering of luxury automobiles, the 2026 Buick Regal GS is an even sportier take on the current Regal Sportback. Features like all-wheel drive, a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and a 3.6-liter V6 make the GS stand out, appealing to a younger, more active population.
The Regal GS is unique because to its cutting-edge interior technology and more expressive exterior design. Driving dynamics is the one area it should really shine in, yet it fails to do so. 2026 Buick Regal GS Changes

Exterior & Interior
Stop wasting time A shocking hue of red characterizes my test vehicle, a Sportback with distinctively sculpted lines for a modern Buick. The silhouette is reminiscent of the Audi A5 Sportback, and the front fascia gives off an aura of inherent sportiness with its narrow headlamps and huge air intakes.
The inside is unattractive due to the use of heavy plastics, buttons that seem cheap, and an overall outdated design approach. The 8-inch touchscreen made it look like a car from the mid-2000s. The minimalist UI lacks curves and has a number of buttons that are too big. General Motors, this is disgusting.
However, the front chairs offer exceptional comfort. The GS comes fitted with sport seats, so your rear end will have no trouble fitting. I couldn’t resist the allure of these seats since they could provide simultaneous massage, heating, and cooling. Never in my life have I experienced an embrace like that.
The Regal Sportback has an unparalleled capacity for cargo. The trunk’s capacity increases from 31.5 to an astounding 60.7 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. To a large part, it is how the Mazda CX-5 differs from the typical small crossover utility vehicle. If you loathe SUVs yet frequently find yourself hauling large goods, the Regal could be the ideal car for you.
Up there, you can see the Buick IntelliLink multimedia systems. The infotainment system is simple and straightforward, with only one physical button on the home screen.
My preferred aspect of IntelliLink is its news stream, which resembles a podcast. The second one is a marketplace where I can see all of my Dunkin’ Donuts orders from the convenience of my car and place new ones as well. Even though some California streets seem weird when spoken, the inbuilt navigation system is easy to use and will get you to the correct destination.
You won’t need IntelliLink anymore thanks to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the in-built Wi-Fi hotspots. The Regal GS has wireless phone charging in addition to two USB ports and a 12-volt outlet on the back.
As an extra, you may equip your vehicle with a head-up display, which shows crisp and vivid information onto the windshield. Even if you use polarized sunglasses, it will still be visible.
Standard on every Regal GS model is blind spot monitoring, along with a back seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control is an available extra in the Driver Confidence II package, however it can’t be set to go below 20 mph like competing systems. After startup, adaptive cruise control can deactivate the GS entirely by reducing speed for three seconds.
2026 Buick Regal GS Specs
Engine & Performance
The 310 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque generated by the GS’s V6 engine are rather remarkable. With its three modes—regular, sport, and GS—which are essentially sport+—this Regal should display a trifecta of personality. However, it’s only a boring car in reality.
Rather than being designed for intense off-roading, the GS’s traditional nine-speed transmission prioritizes everyday driving and fuel efficiency with its rapid upshifts. On top of that, nothing happens when you push the GS and Sport buttons. Even if the gears won’t shift for a while, the throttle response and shift mapping appear to be delayed. My Buick’s automatic transmission doesn’t have paddle shifters, so I guess I’ll just have to use my fingers to change gears. A manual is just not going to be obtained.
The GS and Sport modes supposedly offer a more robust suspension, and the Continuous Damping Control lets you tweak the chassis settings in real-time. The Regal GS is capable of surprising even the most unmotivated riders with its lightning-fast acceleration and agile handling. Take it easy and savor the journey. Unfortunately, I am still unable to tell the three driving styles apart. Actually, the only thing I feel is the weight of the wheel. Despite its little weight in normal mode, it packs a serious punch in GS. 2026 Buick Regal GS Changes
2026 Buick Regal GS Fuel Economy
The GS’s stop-start feature is fantastic as it is both invisible and indestructible. The Regal GS’s gas-saving technology allows it to get 19 metro miles per gallon, 27 highway miles per gallon, and 22 combined mpg. I was expecting that by maximizing the sportiness of this vehicle, I could achieve 19.2 mpg on the road, but I didn’t see any performance results like that. Sorry about that. 2026 Buick Regal GS Changes
2026 Buick Regal GS Release Date & Price
Without the $925 destination tax, a Regal GS costs $39,995. In an ideal world, my ideal GS would cost only $40,760 and not include the $1,690 Driver Confidence Package II (adaptive cruise control). It ends there.
One very appealing alternative is the brand 2017 Stinger from Kia. This vehicle is available with two drivetrain options: rear- or all-wheel drive and a twin-turbo V6 engine. The 2.0-liter Stinger is available for the already-amazing price of $31,900. The Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe are two more expensive choices.
