2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs, Release Date, MSRP

2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs, Release Date, MSRP – I’m willing to pay more for performance like this, even if the EV6 GT’s enormous power may become less useful. Following my initial test drive, I was ecstatic with the 2026 Kia EV6 GT as it significantly increased the power of one of my favorite affordable electric cars. In addition to being the quickest EV6 variant, the GT is also the brand’s fastest production car ever, with a 0–60 mph speed of 3.4 seconds.

Many roadsters and sports coupes gape at its sleek tiny hatch as it drives off. The cost of satisfying that speed requirement, which includes both a direct increase in profitability and indirect compromises in efficiency and range, affects the EV6’s exceptional value. 2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs

Exterior & Interior

The EV6 GT is not only a car with a lot of power. At all driving levels, the electric hot hatch provides a noticeably firmer and more responsive ride thanks to an upgraded suspension system that incorporates new electronically controlled active dampers.

The riding height hasn’t changed, which is strange. The GT’s steering has been tuned to turn from lock to lock faster (2.30 turns) than the rest of the range (2.67 turns), and the chassis has been strengthened in strategic places to provide the suspension a more secure platform.

We’ve already emphasized the bigger wheels and sticky rubber. One of the EV6’s most noticeable exterior characteristics is the neon-green big brake improvement, which is visible when you glance past the spokes. Four-piston calipers up front grip 15-inch rotors, while single-pot calipers with 14.2-inch discs are located at the rear. The larger stoppers improve the car’s appearance and cut the stopping distance by 6.6 feet, allowing the EV6 GT to stop from 62 mph in 141 feet.

More importantly, when driving aggressively on the street and at higher potential speeds, the brakes increase the 5,732-pound EV6 GT’s consistency and resistance to fade. The weight difference between this edition and a GT-Line model is 176 pounds.

The EV6 is a sight to behold on the road when it is in its unique GT mode. This bright green button turns the already responsive E-GMP chassis into a backroad toy by turning on the most extreme engine, suspension, steering, and stability settings. Even while the GT’s more supportive sport seats, thinner sidewalls, and stiffer suspension greatly increase road noise and bumps entering the cabin, it never comes off as harsh or unpleasant.

To test my ability to press the sticky contact patches, I then go to the handling training outside of LVMS. The fingertip input and the seat of the pants feel great, and the regen-assisted braking seems natural. Even with the one-pedal braking option, I can still finish a lap at a respectable speed.

When I roll into the linear throttle, the EV6 GT’s tail waggles a little, but it turns more smoothly around curves. Because of its increased power output and GT mode’s less rigorous stability control requirements, the EV6 is also not exactly a lightweight vehicle. It even allows a little drift for drivers who dare to keep their foot in it.

When you want it to be, the EV6 GT can be dramatic and exciting, but it’s also easy to drive quickly and accurately. I wouldn’t consider it a track car since, although being a lot of fun to drive on a closed circuit, its performance is more suited for the interstate and street. 2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs

Engine & Performance

The normal EV6 AWD’s 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque are incredible, but the EV6 GT is a completely different animal. The GT’s completely new electric motor configuration clarifies this. Kia engineers moved the more powerful 160-kilowatt rear electric motor from the traditional EV6 to the front axle.

They then located a more powerful 270-kW powertrain to fill in at the back utilizing a controlled slip differential. With 576 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque, the two-motor system surpasses the previous record by 256 horsepower and 99 torque.

The rubber meets the road thanks to a set of Z-rated 255/40R21 Goodyear Eagle F1 performance tires set atop eye-catching 21-inch wheels. The EV6 GT’s enhanced power and grip allow it to reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. As Kia frequently emphasizes, it is 1.3 seconds quicker than the company’s own twin-turbo V6-powered Stinger GT2 and faster than a Mercedes-AMG GT, Porsche 911 Targa 4, or Ferrari California T. Even if the EV6 GT can reach a maximum speed of 161 mph, the Kia Stinger remains the quickest vehicle in the group with a top speed of 167 mph.

I can test the EV6’s acceleration on the drag strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The four tires on the launch pad make a little shriek when I press the launch pedal. The electric engines roar to life at a speed of 118.4 miles per hour, completing the quarter-mile in 11.64 seconds despite the wind blowing behind them.

For full-send acceleration, make sure the battery temperature is over 70% by using the Maximum Power Output Mode preset in the EV6’s parameters. If you drop below that charge level, the EV6 might not generate as much power, but not enough to be visible in the most challenging driving conditions.

I can tell that Kia has turned up the volume on the dynamic mode of the Active Sound Design noise generator since it sounds like a combustion engine. It boasts greater power, and for some gimmicky fun that only the cabin can hear, you can even “rev the engine” while you’re parked by squeezing the accelerator pedal.

Even if they are as silent as CNET Cars’ new long-term EV6 Wind, the cyber and fashionable sound elements are still evident. The EV6 GT is best appreciated with the Active Sound Design turned off for almost silent operation. The noise level of the electric powertrain somewhat increases during full-throttle acceleration.

The EV6 GT is powered by the same 111.2 kWh (77.4 usable) “Long Range” lithium-ion battery pack as the rest of the EV6 series because the “Standard Range” EV6 Light basic model was discontinued due to low demand.

In the US, this is the only battery that is offered. The charging apparatus is same as well; CCS DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes around 18 minutes at a 350-kW station, whereas it takes 73 minutes for a 50-kW station. Level 2 home and public charging with the 10.9-kW onboard AC charger takes around 7 hours to finish, and the EV6 GT retains the automaker’s vehicle-to-load power output feature with the included adapter. 2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs

2026 Kia EV6 GT Fuel Economy

However, the efficiency and range of the EV6 GT are adversely affected by larger vehicles, more power-hungry engines, and sticky tires. With an EPA-estimated 206 miles per charge, the GT is fewer than the GT-Line’s 252 miles and the Wind AWD’s 282 miles.

In its Eco driving mode, which just utilizes the rear motor, I was able to get an average of 3.2 miles per kilowatt-hour for the first portion of the day. An easy day in our long-term EV6 Wind is analogous to this. It’s interesting that my end-of-day efficiency of 2.8 miles per kWh is just slightly better than the EPA’s goal of 2.4 miles per kWh. This is partially due to the music and the more aggressive driving it promotes.

However, while switching between Normal, Sport, and GT modes, economy is significantly reduced over the curving sections. With 143.2 miles driven and 28% of the battery still charged, the trip computer estimated that there would be around 51 miles remaining when the keys were turned over. (These figures do not include the heavy-drain drag strip and track testing, which were conducted in different vehicles.) 2026 Kia EV6 GT Specs

2026 Kia EV6 GT Release Date & Price

The most costly vehicle in the EV6 series, the EV6 GT, is now available for $62,695 (plus the $1,295 delivery fee). The extra power and performance come at a cost of around $4,000 more than a GT-Line car with similar choices when all the bells and whistles are equipped.

The reduced efficiency and range will lead to much greater operating and convenience expenses, even while there isn’t a noticeable premium for much more power. Furthermore, only 2,000 to 2,500 GTs will be produced for the US, which makes them harder to find and more susceptible to markups.

Because of its power and consistent performance, the Wind GT-Line grade remains the sweet spot in the range for the majority of drivers. However, if you’re an enthusiast willing to forgo some practicality in exchange for notably greater speed and performance, the 2026 Kia EV6 GT is a fantastic car and the model to purchase.
