While the A35 has the premium setting pre-installed, the A220, which is less expensive, has additional display options. Mercedes-Benz, MBUX installed a state-of-the-art audiovisual system on the dashboard’s right side, sandwiched between two 10.3-inch screens. Better voice recognition with NLP, revamped menus, and the usual suspects—Apple CarPlay and Android Auto—make it an improvement over prior COMAND tech. The A35’s consistently superb riding qualities are reminiscent of those of the bigger Mercedes-AMG C43. Even with the $850 sport suspension that came with it, no matter how much I turned it to the “Comfort” level, I could still feel every bump in the road.

No matter how important safety features are, my top priority will still be adaptive dampers ($990) and a surround-view camera ($1,090). I would need to shell out $53,195 for the ideal A35. I am utterly amazed.

You may encounter some powerful Mercedes-Benz rivals as you approach the A35. Even though it’s more expensive, the AMG CLA35 outshines its rivals in terms of design.
