2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Redesign, Specs, Configurations – We had no problems whatsoever when driving the Nissan Leaf. Since it’s not a huge issue to change the fluids in a regular gas-powered vehicle, we stayed away from the dealership altogether. We returned the tester just as the standard 7,500-mile complimentary multi-point inspection was about to expire.
To make sure our little front driver is secure in adverse weather, we swapped out the regular 17-inch Michelin Energy Saver all-season tires for Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 winter tires. In most cases, a tire rotation would be required for this.
Even fewer dealer visits were required for our Leaf’s maintenance than for typical gas-powered vehicles, proving that owning a battery electric vehicle is a reality. For those who hate going to car lots, the Leaf or a similar electric vehicle can be a lifesaver. 2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Redesign

Exterior & Interior
It would be unfair to hold our test vehicle, the Leaf, responsible if its reliability was compromised because of the charging network we utilized. Our team consists of two EICs. The car’s Greenlots quick charger, which paid to charge the battery, ceased functioning in April after a snowy journey home. Even though our garages were equipped with Level 2 charging stations, we had an issue with the infrastructure.
“Clearly Nissan bears no fault there, but I present this story as an example of the sorts of compromises an EV early adopter will need to consider when road-tripping,” said the chief executive officer. A nearby Ann Arbor ChargePoint station saved the day; I had the identical problem there, too, and they corrected it.
The car “…delivered solid range, meeting or exceeding its 151-mile EPA rating” over the summer, according to our man Stevens. I had to go through the horrible Michigan winter with our long-term Leaf, and it affected him. The required amount of highway traffic caused a precipitous drop in the driving range, which dropped 52 percent to 72 miles. Only if the vehicle was left parked in below-freezing temperatures overnight would it be legal.
Simple adjustments, like charging the battery fully the night before, can cut down on range loss, which is great for longer trips when you might have to stop. Additionally, I found it more easier to warm the vehicle using the app while leaving it linked to the garage. Having an L2 charger on-site, whether at a business or a home, offers several advantages versus waiting in line at a gas station in the cold.
How fast we adapted to Leaf culture was a wonderful surprise. The Nissan’s (relatively) thin tires and electric motor’s linear and smooth power delivery make winter driving a delight. We identified the most inconceivable stop-to-halt action, and the vehicle’s enough torque at full stop handled it with ease.
Along with its great performance in the city loop, the Leaf exhibited remarkable overtaking ability and virtually little wind noise while traveling on the highway. The second is vital but difficult to manage in an EV since conventional IC powertrain noise does not exist to interrupt such currents. The aforementioned ProPilot Assist was also quite helpful to the Leaf in this area.

Engine & Performance
It would appear that this issue, along with any worries over the 2027 Nissan Leaf Plus’s winter range, has been resolved. The larger 62 kWh battery significantly improves its 226-mile range compared to the 215-mile range of the higher and heavier trims. The base S Plus trim, which comes with additional power and standard equipment, costs $37,445 when delivered. If you live in a snowy region, you should seriously consider getting a Plus. On the flip side, the Plus isn’t the only vehicle in its class that’s starting to face competition. Take the spanking new 2027 Kia Niro EV as an example; it’s a somewhat larger crossover with a 239-mile range and costs $39,495 delivered.
We were thrilled to get the opportunity to test the second-generation Leaf’s E-Pedal and ProPilot Assist for a long time. Having both of them is a stroke of luck. E-Pedal, a driver-selectable system, offers strong regenerative braking, allowing us to come to a complete stop in over 90% of typical driving situations without using the brakes manually.
The slopes, too, were identical. Most importantly, we found out that the pedal’s sensation varied slightly depending on the battery charge level; nonetheless, this was never a major issue. Increasing the range with the E-Pedal was usually a blast.
If you think buying an electric car would help the environment, I beg you to temporarily lay that notion aside. Clearly, investing in an electric vehicle such as the Leaf is a fruitless and wasteful venture.
The Nissan Leaf’s popularity stems from its widespread appeal among eco-conscious consumers. We think everyone should be paying attention to electric vehicles for a variety of reasons, including the pleasure of driving one, the absence of road noise, the freedom from gas stations and service shops, and the strong torque of electric power. 2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Redesign
2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Fuel Economy
Our 2018 Leaf is among the most reasonably priced electric vehicles available, with a starting price of $30,885 delivered before incentives for a 2027 model. This is despite the fact that its 40 kWh battery pack isn’t the longest in its class.
2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Safety Features
It worked wonderfully with Nissan’s ProPilot Assist suite of driver support features, which included adaptive cruise control and lane-centering. When there were appropriate lane markings, this Level 2 technique remained relatively stationary in the middle of the lane and was easy to use.
It was still usable despite the fading painted markings. Due to the extensive travel, we managed to minimize the number of blunders we made on the job. On those few occasions, nevertheless, the Leaf saved the day.
The Leaf lacked some features that were important to us, including a lane departure warning system. Whenever it senses the driver is veering off the road, it will vibrate the wheel to alert them.
In my update from February, I noted that “… the motor responsible for the vibration is so loud that passengers notice and react regardless, and the quality of the sound itself feels decidedly subpremium, like some sort of overseas telephone busy signal.” Hopefully, Nissan will address this promptly because it appears to be a rather simple process.
2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Release Date & Price
After a year and thousands of kilometers, we have a good idea of what it’s like to live an electric life. For the time being, disregard the environmental benefits of purchasing an EV. There are several other advantages to switching to an electric vehicle, as we witnessed directly with the 2018 Nissan Leaf. We discovered more and more reasons to appreciate electric life as we drove thousands of kilometers across all four seasons.
Our extravagant SL model, beautifully decked out in Deep Blue Pearl, came in April 2018 and cost $38,115. We thought the second-generation Leaf’s more family-oriented design was far more pleasant and balanced right away, even if it lacked the bold and provocative attributes of its predecessor. Throughout the entire year, this pleasant feeling persisted.
We used around 8,000 kilowatt hours and miles—the average amount for a daily driver—during our twelve months in Michigan and New York. In addition to running errands at Home Depot and driving the Leaf through thick snow last autumn, we used this hatchback for our editor-in-chief’s unofficial doughnut vs. cider test. 2027 Nissan Leaf Plus Redesign
