Because of this, it’s understandable to be concerned that the car’s second generation may lose its edge. After a week of driving a 2023 Subaru BRZ, I can say that it’s as much fun as ever and more enjoyable to live with than ever before.

BRZs of the first generation are my favorites, although the style of the second generation is also quite appealing. The 2023 BRZ’s form is still sharp, but the headlamps and grille have been softened and downsized slightly. The style of the 2023 WRX doesn’t look as good as it was on its 2023 WRX since the rear is less aggressive. The 18-inch wheels of the Limited trim fit the wells perfectly. For two or three people, a week’s supply of groceries may be stored in the trunk, which measures 6.3 cubic feet. This is significantly larger than the 4.6 cubic feet Mazda gives in the Miata.
The interior of the BRZ will also be upgraded for 2023. As a result, you no longer feel as if the firewall is just inches away from your face. If I want to be a bit more mature in my everyday driving, I can alter the yellow zone on the center tachometer, and I can have had the cluster alert whenever it needs to switch so that I can keep both eyes on the road.
Subaru has a reputation for going all out in terms of safety systems, and the 2023 BRZ is no exception. In addition to automatic braking, adaptive cruise, plus lane departure warning, its EyeSight package of driver-assist features is available on automatic models. The blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic warning systems offered by my manual tester are a welcome addition, and they’re standard just on the Limited model.

The 2.4-L turbo found in Subaru’s larger Outback, as well as Ascent, was hoped for by many online corners before the BRZ was released. And that’s what happened, in a way. The BRZ’s 2.4-liter H4 engine uses natural aspiration rather than turbocharging, and I have no complaints about this.

My BRZ Limited’s six-speed manual transmission is a dream to drive, with a clutch pedal that bites hard yet predictably and just the proper amount of notchy lever movement. It’s easy to adjust the right pad as needed once I’m traveling at speed, even if the throttle might feel soupy while taking off, as though the computer is smoothing out my input. When blipping my accelerator for a downshift, that soupiness returns every so often, but many of my flicks put the revs just how I want them.
You don’t have to be dragged to the petrol station every time you drive a sports car. When equipped with said six-speed manuals (which increases to 21 and 30 mpg with the automatic), the 2023 BRZ is estimated to get 20 city mpg and 27 highway mpg by the government, but those ratings seem low to me. Averaging approximately 35mpg on Michigan’s 70 mph roads, where traffic typically moves at least 10mph faster than that, isn’t too far off from reality. 2023 Subaru BRZ Colors
2023 Subaru BRZ Price and Release Date
In addition, the new 2023 Subaru BRZ is still reasonably priced. With a starting price of $28,995 (plus $960 for the destination fee), the entry-level Limited model costs $31,455. Due to features like warmed front seats as well as the mentioned safety technology, the Limited is my preferred trim level.
