For its second lease on life, the ZDX keeps its traditional, upright SUV look. Its 197.7-inch bumper-to-bumper footprint is similar to that of the Acura MDX and Honda Pilot SUV. The SUV seems even more grounded thanks to its lower 64.4-inch roof and 121.8-inch wheelbase, which are around 10 inches longer than those of its brothers with combustion engines. The ZDX will be the first Acura to have Google Built-In software on the dashboard due to its Android-based operating system, which uses Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store as the primary infotainment software. The all-electric ZDX and Honda’s upcoming Prologue were constructed using General Motors’ Ultium battery and electrification technology platform as part of the co-development agreement. The lowest specification at launch is the ZDX A-Spec, which has a 340-horsepower electric motor on its back axle. The EPA estimates that the A-Spec’s 102-kilowatt-hour Ultium battery pack allows it to go 325 miles between charges.
Another alternative is a dual-motor setup, which has a lesser 315-mile range but improved traction. Furthermore, Acura claims that the maximum towing capability of all ZDX models is 3,500 pounds; however, if this restriction were to be surpassed, range would likely be affected.
The SUV has a fixed-coil suspension with reactive dampers and 20-inch wheels with 265/50R20 all-season tires. Because the ZDX’s 12.6-inch front brakes are smaller than the standard 13.5-inch rear stoppers, it features an intriguing reversing setup. The EV’s robust regenerative braking system most likely makes it possible. Despite using the same battery as the A-Spec, the high-performance ZDX Type S variant has far more powerful e-motors and sportier driving mode software. This SUV is the most potent Acura has ever made, with dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard and an estimated system power of 500 horsepower.
However, the 602-hp Type S hybrid sports car, the NSX, which just finished manufacture, is superior. All ZDX models can receive a 190-kilowatt DC charge in only 10 minutes, which is enough to give them an 81-mile range. Drivers will be able to find stations on most DC fast charging networks nationwide and pay for charging sessions using an Acura smartphone app. The previously disclosed high-speed charging network, a joint effort by seven manufacturers, will eventually be directly accessible to the ZDX.
