2026 Acura ZDX Type S Interior, Specs, Changes

2026 Acura ZDX Type S Interior, Specs, Changes – The next year will see the release of the 500-horsepower Type S variant of the 325-mile Acura ZDX A-Spec. We’ll see the Acura ZDX again. The brand will be used once more on the automaker’s most powerful SUV and first all-electric car in the following year. Meet the 2026 Acura ZDX A-Spec and the 500-horsepower Acura ZDX Type S.

Due to poor sales, Acura’s first-generation ZDX crossover coupe was retired four years after it was introduced in 2009. The ZDX could have been a little before of its time, considering that almost all manufacturers now provide coupeovers. We got our first glimpse of the ZDX’s return during Monterey Car Week 2022 when Honda’s luxury and performance division debuted the Acura Precision EV Concept. About a year later, the automaker is back in Monterey today to introduce the production-ready ZDX EV.

2026 Acura ZDX Type S Changes

For its second lease on life, the ZDX keeps its traditional, upright SUV look. Its 197.7-inch bumper-to-bumper footprint is similar to that of the Acura MDX and Honda Pilot SUV. The SUV seems even more grounded thanks to its lower 64.4-inch roof and 121.8-inch wheelbase, which are around 10 inches longer than those of its brothers with combustion engines. This enables the SUV to honor the low-slung design of the original ZDX. 2026 Acura ZDX Type S Interior

Exterior & Interior

The ZDX will be the first Acura to have Google Built-In software on the dashboard due to its Android-based operating system, which uses Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store as the primary infotainment software. The EV’s 11.3-inch primary touchscreen and 11-inch digital instrument cluster will be powered by this software. Another aspect of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is convenient internet access.

2026 Acura ZDX Type S Redesign

Thanks to a newly announced partnership with Bang & Olufsen, the ZDX’s cabin will now include a new high-end audio system. The design incorporates brushed metal grilles and acoustic lens technology from the Danish luxury audio business. The ZDX is also the first Acura vehicle to be equipped with the new Hands Free Cruise and Automatic Parking Assist technologies as part of its AcuraWatch 360 driver aid package.

The latter technology fulfills its promise of providing hands-off highway driving assistance on about 400,000 kilometers of authorized roadways. That number, together with the previously revealed Ultium technology sharing agreement, suggests that the next version of GM’s excellent Super Cruise system is driven by the same hands-free, eyes-on technology. If so, it most likely features automatic lane changes and trailering capabilities.

Engine & Performance

The all-electric ZDX and Honda’s upcoming Prologue were constructed using General Motors’ Ultium battery and electrification technology platform as part of the co-development agreement. The lowest specification at launch is the ZDX A-Spec, which has a 340-horsepower electric motor on its back axle. The EPA estimates that the A-Spec’s 102-kilowatt-hour Ultium battery pack allows it to go 325 miles between charges.

Another alternative is a dual-motor setup, which has a lesser 315-mile range but improved traction. Furthermore, Acura claims that the maximum towing capability of all ZDX models is 3,500 pounds; however, if this restriction were to be surpassed, range would likely be affected.

2026 Acura ZDX Type S Specs

The SUV has a fixed-coil suspension with reactive dampers and 20-inch wheels with 265/50R20 all-season tires. Because the ZDX’s 12.6-inch front brakes are smaller than the standard 13.5-inch rear stoppers, it features an intriguing reversing setup. The EV’s robust regenerative braking system most likely makes it possible. Despite using the same battery as the A-Spec, the high-performance ZDX Type S variant has far more powerful e-motors and sportier driving mode software. This SUV is the most potent Acura has ever made, with dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard and an estimated system power of 500 horsepower.

However, the 602-hp Type S hybrid sports car, the NSX, which just finished manufacture, is superior. The Type S is equipped with 22-inch aluminum alloy wheels and the largest rolling stock Acura has ever produced. To maintain traction on the asphalt, they employ various summer formulations or 275/40R22 all-season tires. All that rubber stays in contact with the road thanks to air suspension and high-performance adjustable dampers. The handling department changes are finished with larger 15.6-inch Brembo front brakes with bright yellow six-piston calipers.

Because of the increased power and grip, the EPA expects that the car will have a 288-mile range. 2026 Acura ZDX Type S Interior

2026 Acura ZDX Type S Fuel Economy

All ZDX models can receive a 190-kilowatt DC charge in only 10 minutes, which is enough to give them an 81-mile range. Drivers will be able to find stations on most DC fast charging networks nationwide and pay for charging sessions using an Acura smartphone app. The previously disclosed high-speed charging network, a joint effort by seven manufacturers, will eventually be directly accessible to the ZDX. It is projected to have 30,000 charging stations by 2030 and start operations in the US and Canada by 2026.

With the ZDX, Acura is launching its Acura Home Electrification service, which will connect customers with pre-screened local installers to install home charging for their new EV. 2026 Acura ZDX Type S Interior
