Released in 2016, it was, well, crap at the time. With a price tag below $40,000 and a range over 200 miles, no one paid attention to the fact that it resembled a wedge of cheese and had inexpensive polymers within.

Exterior & Interior
Even while I know most Bolt owners aren’t into corner-carving sports, I still think a torque-tastic electric motor is fun since it’s immediate and gets up to speed quickly. Both the Bolt’s tires and chassis just can’t handle this.
The hatchback is prone to unsettled handling on bumpy roads and has poor traction from the Michelin Energy Saver all-season tires, which are designed for maximum economy. Turning a corner is a breeze on the Bolt because to its well-weighted handling and low center of gravity. A Mini Cooper SE is significantly more pleasurable to drive, but not everyone can use it owing to its 110-mile range.
But for me, the Chargeway app is functioning well. Stations are categorized according to charging speed and kind using numbers and colors, respectively. For as long as I let the app know that my vehicle is a Chevy Bolt with the fast-charging feature turned on, I can utilize any of the green stations numbered 1–4. No brainer at all. I can see the charger’s brand and precise position on the app, in addition to user reviews and surrounding points of interest.
A 10.2-inch color screen displays the infotainment system of the Bolt. Even though the interface and colors are sharp and clear, my delayed reaction times cause me to poke an icon twice as I presume it hasn’t been pressed.
You may connect to the internet with a regular 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and charge your devices with the front-mounted USB-A ports and 12-volt outlet. The Premier variant comes with an optional infotainment package that incorporates wireless charging and two additional charge-only USB-A connectors for the passengers in the rear.
A lot of room appears to be available inside the Bolt, and the dashboard features some lovely white trim that looks quite at home in outer space. Having said that, the materials are subpar all around. When compared to the competition, what wasn’t so great in 2016 now appears cheap.
But the front and back seats, as well as the steering wheel, are heated in my Premier level. My tester’s rear camera mirror also uses the video feed from the backup camera. The ability to toggle between the video and regular mirror views is really convenient.

Engine & Performance
The electric drivetrain generates 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. That’s wonderful for racing to beat that yellow light, driving about town, and merging onto the interstate. Putting the vehicle in Low and elevating my right foot to slow down will allow me to make the most of one-pedal driving and regenerative braking.
I can quickly apply more regen and slow down the car with a paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. Alternatively, I could just hit the brakes, you know. Mechanical and electrical braking are indistinguishable, and the traditional brakes are far more comfortable to use.
If you forgot to charge your Bolt on Friday night and need to run errands on Saturday, you can check the battery level and remaining range on several EV pages in the infotainment system.

With its larger 66-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the 2027 Bolt EV hatchback gains 21 miles of range. Its 259-mile range makes it more capable than the Nissan Leaf Plus and the Hyundai Kona Electric, but it still has better performance overall. The Bolt’s charging periods remain mostly similar at ten hours on a Level 2 home charger or, with fast-charging enabled, at around one hundred miles of range in thirty minutes. On the other hand, a fast-charging port is standard on the Leaf Plus.
It’s admirable that Chevrolet is continuing to innovate in battery technology and has decided to prolong the Bolt’s range until 2027. Furthermore, General Motors’ intentions to introduce many electric vehicle models are well-known. Still, when compared to other electric vehicles, the Bolt is light years behind.

Quite a few alternatives for driver assistance are now unavailable. The Bolt does not come standard with adaptive cruise control, and the Premier trim level is the only one that has blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning. Optional extras include lane-keeping aid, front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, and front collision alarm.
Looking for even more advanced technology? The Nissan Leaf Plus comes with both Tesla’s Autopilot and the manufacturer’s ProPilot Assist system. In addition, there is no built-in navigation on the Bolt. 2027 Chevy Bolt Release Date & Price
The base price of a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt is $37,495 (not including state or federal rebates) plus $875 for delivery. With my hard-earned cash on the line, I would forego the premium infotainment system and heated rear seats in favor of the standard LT trim. It would be more prudent for me to enhance my standard Bolt with the blind-spot monitoring ($495) and heated front seats ($555) upgrades.
The $750 DC rapid charging is a must-have for any road excursions you have planned. Additionally, I would go for the brand-new Oasis Blue hue. The bright blue hue of the Bolt makes it easily identifiable. With shipping included, my ideal Bolt will set me back $39,295. While my fully equipped tester is priced at $43,735.
The opposition has done an excellent job of keeping up with, and even surpassing, Chevy’s electric vehicle, even if it was the finest when it first came out. Despite having a shorter battery life, the Kia Niro is more stylish and equipped with features like GPS and adaptive cruise control.
The base fee, which covers transportation, is around $40,000. With a starting price of about $38,000 (not including destination), the Hyundai Kona offers a comparable range, but its unusual design could deter potential customers. Lastly, while the Tesla Model 3’s Autopilot is fantastic, the car is still not self-driving and gets more expensive with extras, even if you appreciate the brand cache of owning one.
