2027 Toyota Highlander Redesign, Specs, Dimensions – In an instant, Safety Sense, a cutting-edge driver assistance system that is standard on Toyota vehicles, saved the day. I’m not a big fan of advanced car safety systems like forward collision warning. I’ve always thought that these nannies prey on negligent parents. I can avoid hiring a babysitter if I continue to drive. But one of those digital babysitters for the 2027 Toyota Highlander educated me.
I put my trusty Super Big Gulp in the cup holder as I climbed into my three-row Toyota Highlander for the trip last week. After I finished my Coke, I attempted to slide my beloved SBG—as I call it—into the cup holder, but it got caught on the small lever that holds different cup sizes. The car ahead of me skidded to a stop, so I looked down and accelerated.
The Highlander’s driver jerked to a stop when the frontal collision warning light and alarm went out. The anti-lock braking system went into overdrive as I spewed out a string of expletives, looked over my shoulder, and then slammed on the brakes, bringing me to a crawl only inches from the bumper of the lead car.
Even though my heart was pounding with excitement, I quietly thanked Toyota for integrating their safety systems into all of their cars. I was spared an awkward phone encounter with my boss because of that boardroom decision. 2027 Toyota Highlander Redesign
2027 Toyota Highlander Redesign and Update Plan
Exterior & Interior
A good compromise between the roomier two-row RAV4 and the more useful 4Runner is the mid-range Highlander. Depending on the trim level, the Highlander can accommodate seven or eight passengers; however, little children may not be the ideal fit for adults in the third row. The Highlander had a significant overhaul in 2027. The redesigned LED taillights and angular front fascia of this midsize crossover are its main features. Toyota also released the SE trim level. Strong elements like roof rails, 19-inch wheels, and a blacked-out front grille define it.
Toyota’s Entune infotainment system is functional even if it’s not my favorite. At the present, Toyota has not commented on the availability of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay in any of its vehicles. Alternatively, you may use Toyota’s official program suite to get third-party application installers for your Highlander.
Installing the Entune app on your iOS or Android smartphone and connecting it to your device will allow you to access apps like Yelp, Pandora, and Slacker in addition to real-time traffic and weather reports. Although Scout GPS is simple to use, lesser trim levels require the Entune app in order to use it. The optional 8-inch touchscreen made inputs simple, and the system started up as soon as the engine started.
The rear-seat DVD system in my test car had a remote control, Bluetooth headphones, and an optional 9-inch screen. Given how many kids currently own iPads, the $1,810 price tag sounds exorbitant. The new Highlander has five USB ports—two in the back and three up front—making it ideal for charging the kids’ electronics.
2027 Toyota Highlander Specs
Engine & Performance
The SE Highlander is sportier than others, so I took it for a trip around Denver, Colorado. At little over 5,000 feet, the air is thinner, but the Highlander’s new 3.5-liter V6 engine was still able to give sufficient acceleration. The Highlander’s 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque allowed it to easily handle a number of twisting mountain routes.
The SE’s upgraded suspension is ideal for people who like to drive more slowly on rural roads. It is a step up from rival sporty three-row family haulers, even though it falls short of my ideal—the Mazda CX-9. Regardless of the engine RPM maintained or the speed of the change, the eight-speed automatic gearbox remains cool under pressure. Despite being a little stiff, the ride is still really pleasant. Unfortunately, that is just the way the press car lottery works, even though I really want my test vehicle to have all-wheel drive. 2027 Toyota Highlander Redesign
2027 Toyota Highlander Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, Toyota boasts of fuel efficiency of 21 city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. Finally, the final score of 23.0 was accurate.
Even in the base model, the Highlander’s 2.7-liter engine can produce 185 horsepower. I can tell you that many two-row crossovers have that much horsepower, even if I was unable to test it out. I expect the larger three-row Highlander to appear uninspired because of the smaller engine. The cherry on top is that its gas mileage is worse than that of the larger 3.5-liter engine (24 highway and 20 city mpg).
Another eco-friendly choice is the Highlander hybrid. The 3.5-liter V6 engine and the two electric motors work together to generate 306 horsepower. As a consequence, according to EPA measurements, the hybrid performs nine miles better on the interstate and twenty-nine miles better in the city than the front-wheel drive V6.
At 5,000 pounds, the Highlander’s standard towing capability is more than that of the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, and MazdaCX-9. The smallest of the four vehicles behind the third row of seats clearly has a trunk with insufficient space. Furthermore, the enormous 83.7 cubic feet of baggage space can hold about 350 12-packs of Diet Dr. Pepper when the back seats are folded down.
2027 Toyota Highlander Safety Features
All Highlander trim levels came equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense P (TSS-P) equipment as standard in 2027. Many people believe that the functions in this bundle are essential. lane-keeping assistance, dynamic radar cruise control, and the ability to maintain the car safely inside its lane and a specific distance from the car in front of it.
Dynamic radar cruise control is useless in stop-and-go traffic since it is ineffectual below 30 mph; however, lane-keeping assist does a great job. These characteristics, together with the frontal crash warning system that might end a career, give Toyota the advantage.
2027 Toyota Highlander Release Date & Price
The heated seats in the 2027 Toyota Highlander XLE are a big selling element for someone like me who likes a toasty rear. I would absolutely pick that trim level if I could afford it. I will forgo the 360-degree Bird’s Eye View Camera and rear-seat entertainment as I am not yet ready to upgrade to the top-tier Limited trim with the Platinum Package. Thank you; I believe my mirrors will function.
The basic price of my Highlander SE is $30,630, yet it costs $40,685 (not including destination). Intense market competition is shown by the appearances of Hyundai, Chevrolet, Kia, and Volkswagen’s new Atlas. The 2027 Highlander’s reasonable performance and fuel economy make it a strong competitor despite its simplified look. Toyota Safety Sense has made the Highlander far superior than its competitors. For myself, I would go for the smaller Big Gulp. It’s more likely to slide into the cup holder. 2027 Toyota Highlander Redesign
